The last few weeks here at PCH has been a whirlwind and the last few days as well.
Morgan received her Cistplatin Monday and although she has been feeling rather nauseous and throwing up a bit, she has been a trooper. Yesterday she was up and playing for longer than I have seen in a very long time and a few people were able to visit and see a happy playful Morgan.
We should be heading home today after almost two weeks straight in the hospital and I am feeling much more confident controlling the pain and making sure she is getting her vitamins and minerals through her NG tube.
We will need to be admitted again on Monday but I cant even begin to express to you how happy I am that we get to go home for a long weekend. To have both my babies and husband under the same roof is something I will NEVER complain about again. We will check in Monday and hopefully stay until Wed and get to go home again until the following Monday. The goal is to not get a fever or any complications before Monday so we can get a second dose of scheduled Chemo so we continue fighting this Cancer.
On a brighter note, PCH has so many activities and things to do for kids that it makes it a lot less painful to be here. On Monday, the wives of the Diamondbacks threw a Pink Party down in the Zone for the kiddos that are here for treatment. As many of you know, Morgan loves the color pink as well as getting her nails and make-up done. Bravo to these woman! You truly made her day! (On a side note: I ran into my huge crush, Ian Schwartz, CBS 5 weatherman. I am not making this up. I take my local CBS 5 quite seriously and you would have though George Clooney walked in the door!)
We have also realized that Morgan is going to have to acquire a standard poodle. The therapy dogs are absolutely amazing everyday but all she talks about is Joy, the white standard poodle to anyone that will listen. A really cool thing they do here is handout trading cards for every puppy that visits. Morgan checks and counts them everyday along with asking the dogs that come in if they “know joy” or know she gets her nails painted.
All in all, we are doing okay and holding strong. Thank you to everyone that has continued to pray for us and send love.
My brave girl,
When you are all better and older, this website is going to show you a journey that you will barely remember.
Last night we made a decision with your doctors to begin a new chemo regiment. This is a new strategy in the US that the Europeans use to beat this shitty disease and when you get older and we go to Europe, you will realize they tend to do things a lot better over there.
Buckle up baby because this is very intense and will prepare you for your transplant and bring this Cancer down. The decision you father and I made was not one made lightly but it’s going to be rough and you will lose most likely lose your hearing. I hope you understand that we are doing the best we can and are doing right by you. We are choosing to make these hard decisions so you don’t have to.
But guess what! Your mama took 4 years of sign language in college so I got you! You might just need a hearing aid and we will get you the best out there, I promise. Music is in your blood and we will prevail, my girl.
Your Daddy, Liam, and I will always have your back and you make us proud everyday.
Love,
Mommy
Morgans NG tube went in today. She threw a raging fit but I wouldn’t expect anything less from this soldier. She will now be able to get everything she needs with less of a battle at home which will make everyone’s life a little better. I cried more than she did, however, I look up to her so much for bravery and strength in times like this one and this too shall pass. Mommy loves you princess!
Morgan’s boyfriend Ryder came to visit her today along with Uncle Mikey and Ike the Mastiff!
They are switching her Chemo to a more intense protocol starting next week. It’s a technique used in Europe but not used much here in the states. I’ll give you more details when I have them.
